삶의 전 영역에서 인터넷의 일상화는 효율성과 생산성, 오락성의 편익을 제공하는 동시에 익명성과 비대면성의 매체특성으로 인해 이를 악용한 인터넷 폭력이 심각한 사회문제가 되고 있다. 이에 인터넷 폭력을 예방하고 보다 인간 중심의 인터넷 문화를 창달하기 위한 인터넷 윤리의 중요성이 부각되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 설문조사 분석결과를 바탕으로 인터넷 폭력에 대한 인터넷 윤리수준의 역할을 규명하고 인터넷 윤리수준을 결정하는 요인들을 도출하고자 하였다. 본 연구의 주요 결과는 다음과 같았다. 첫째, 성인의 인터넷 윤리수준은 인터넷 폭력에 부(-)의 영향을 미쳤으며 둘째, 일부 인구통계(성별, 연령, 학생)와 인터넷 이용(인터넷 이용빈도, 1회 이용시간, 인터넷 선용) 변수, 자아개념, 대인 관계, 인터넷 윤리 지식은 성인의 인터넷 윤리수준에 영향을 미치는 것으로 분석되었다. 그리고 추가분석을 통하여 인터넷 폭력 피해경험이 인터넷 폭력에 대한 성인의 행동유형에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다.
Abstract
The Internet is an indispensable productivity tool and a source of entertainment. Its widespread adoption, while making our lives immeasurably more convenient, is also creating previously unheard-of social problems. The anonymity of online interactions is making the Internet an environment conducive to deviant and abusive behavior, inconceivable in face-to-face situations. Hence, there is an urgent need to establish ethical norms for the Internet to curb Internet violence and encourage respectful behavior among Internet users. In this study, using the results of a survey, we investigate how the level of Internet ethics affects Internet violence and which factors influence the level of Internet ethics among adults. The main findings of this study are the following. First, the level of Internet ethics has had a negative influence on Internet violence. Second, some demographical and Internet usage variables, constructive Internet usage, self-perception, inter-personal relationships, and knowledge of Internet ethics were correlated with the level of Internet ethics. Additional analysis revealed that experience as a victim of Internet violence influenced users’ behavioral patterns.
