본 연구는 알코올 의존자 가족을 대상으로 기존의 감사에 대한 연구와 프로그램의 내용을 참고하여 8회기 감사프로그램을 구안하고, 프로그램의 효과를 검증하고자 하였다. 감사프로그램은 Adler와 Fagley(2005)가 제안한 감사의 여덟가지 관점, 즉 소유초점, 경외, 의식, 현재순간, 자기/사회비교, 고마움, 상실/역경, 대인관계를 중심으로 구성하였으며, 이 프로그램이 알코올 의존자 가족의 감사와 자기존중감, 우울에 미치는 영향을 탐색하였다. 연구대상은 서울･경기지역의 알아넌(Al-Anon)에 참석 중인 알코올 의존자 가족 16명이었으며, 이 중 8명을 실험집단으로, 나머지는 무처치 통제집단으로 선정하여 2014년 4월 18일부터 6월 6일까지 프로그램을 시행하였다. 연구결과, 감사프로그램을 실시한 실험집단은 통제집단에 비하여 감사와 자기존중감이 유의하게 증가한 것으로 나타났으며, 우울은 유의하게 감소하였다. 마지막으로, 본 연구의 의의와 제한점에 대해 논의하였다.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to design and investigate the effectiveness of an appreciation program for family members of alcoholics. The appreciation program was constructed based on Adler and Fagley’s eight aspects of appreciation (2005): ‘Have focus’, ‘Awe’, ‘Ritual’, ‘Present Moment’, ‘Self/Social comparison’, ‘Gratitude’, ‘Loss/Adversity’ & ‘Interpersonal.’ Subjects included 16 individuals who are currently participating in Al-anon program in either Seoul or the Kyeonggi province. Participants were categorized into two groups of eight: the experimental group and the control group. When compared to the control group, participants of the appreciation program reported significantly higher scores on both the appreciation and self-esteem scales and lower scores on the depression scale. Implications and limitations of the study are discussed.
