'중용'의 교육사상 고찰

Abstract

The purpose of the study is to consider the educational idea which can be found in the Confucian Classic of Mean. The book which contains the metaphysical discourse of Confucianism has also the basic educational idea of Confucianism,. That is, it pursues the basic Confucian thoughts such as the self-realization of human beings and educational enlightenment in human life. This study focuses on the viewpoint that the idea of ‘Mean’ has been important in the traditional Korean education values, so that it centers on the educational idea of the ‘Mean’; Especially it will thoroughly consider the educational implications in the current times. The golden mean means a kind of life-way which can be well harmonized in the endless change of time and space. Therefore in order to live in the golden mean man has to keep a fair and impartial mind or attitude and put it into practice in the ordinary life. Man as a noble and reasonable being must live such a life; It is a Sollen. To live such a life of the golden mean, man has to cultivate his mind and study the Confucian Classics. Here we can find the educational pursuit of the ‘Mean.’ The main idea of the modern Korean education has come from the Western education theories. But in conclusion, through the study of such a traditional Korean education values we can find one way in which the future Korean education has to go, which will be sought in harmony with the Western education theories.
