Abstract

I studied the images of the Buddhist priests in Euwooyadam in connection with the subject of the secularization, in this essay. In the first place, according to the examination by type, the tales of the priest of virtue were littler as contrasted with past generations. In the place of, the generals of priest and strange priests presented themselves for the first time and in volume. And the wicked monks presented themselves for the first time and in volume. The of the images of the Buddhist priest undergone a change in the negative and the degree was strengthened. In the next, according to the synthetic examination, I discussed the of the images of the Buddhist priests said earlier by the form of secularization and made observation it's import. In view of the results, the form strengthening of it's degree in secularization of the priests was used very often, in Euwooyadam. In the last place, this secularization of the priests was resulted from the social circumstances, the social position of Buddhism and the priests, the agitation against Buddhism by Sadaebu including the editor Yu Mongin, of those years.
