Abstract
This study aims to investigate the relationship between hypertension, heart disease, and mental health factors, as well as the influences on these relationships. The subjects and methods of this study are secondary analysis studies using the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey(2021). The demographic and health-related characteristics of the subjects, and mental health-related factors(stress, depression) were used to confirm statistical significance using SPSS. The group that felt a lot of stress was 17 times more likely to have hypertension(p<.001). Factors affecting the stress perception rate were hypertension(β=.063), stroke(β=.036), and depression(β=-.120). Factors affecting continuous depression for more than 2 weeks were hypertension(β=.146) and depression(β=.092, p<.001). It was concluded that mental health-related factors(stress and depression) have a significant effect on hypertension. This study aims to provide foundational data for the prevention and management of mental health issues that negatively impact the occurrence and prognosis of cardiovascular diseases in the future.
