Abstract

Modern complex operational systems are characterized by performance metrics known as RAM indicators: Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability. In particular, Operational Availability (Aₒ) represents the probability that a system is available at the required time, serving as a key quantitative measure of operational stability and efficiency. This study defines operation, required-operation, and standby modes as probabilistic variables and quantitatively analyzes the impact of varying operational shares on overall operational availability. Simulation results based on a weapon system case study confirm that as the operational share increases from 0% to 100%, the integrated system’s operational availability (Aₒ) decreases from 93.5% to 85.5%. By extending conventional mean-based RAM analysis, this research proposes a novel analytical framework that contributes to securing operational stability and developing resource management strategies for complex systems resembling real weapon platforms.
