노인의 우울이 삶의 만족도에 미치는 효과 : 자아존중감의 매개효과 중심으로

본 연구는 2006년 한국복지패널을 이용하여 65세 이상 노인 3,779명을 대상으로 노인의 우울과 삶의 만족도의 관계에 대한 자아존중감의 매개효과를 밝히고자 AMOS 7.0 버전을 사용하여 구조방정식모델분석과 이러한 매개효과가 통계적으로 유의미한지를 검증하기 위해 Sobel(1982)검증 중 Baron와 Kenny(1986)에 의해 이용된 Aroian 검증방법을 사용하였다. 연구 결과 첫째, 노인의 우울은 삶의 만족도와 자아존중감에 부적 상관을 보였고, 자아존중감은 삶의 만족도에 정적 상관을 보였다. 둘째, 노인의 자아존중감은 우울과 삶의 만족도간에 매개역할을 하고 있음이 확인되었다. 즉 자아존중감을 통해 노인의 우울과 삶의 만족도 간을 강화시키거나 약화시킬 수 있음이 입증되었다. 그러므로 우울을 중재할 수 있는 매개변인을 탐구하여 우울과 노인의 삶의 만족도 사이에 개입 가능성을 제시했다는데 연구의 의의가 있다. 이 연구의 시사점과 제한점, 그리고 추후 연구에서 고려할 점이 논의되었다.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the mediator effects of self-esteem on the relationship between the elderly depression and life satisfaction. and are analyzed with the statistical program AMOS 7.0 as a calling structural equation modeling. and also are approved by Aroian Test. The subjects were 3,779 men and women over 65 years old who were selected in 2006 Korea Welfare Panel Study. The subjects completed socio-demographic factors questionnaire, center for epidemiological studies depression scale, self-esteem scale, and life satisfaction. Amos analysis was employed to analyze the data. The major findings were as follows: 1) the depression in elderly were negative related to life satisfaction and self-esteem while self-esteem was positive related to life satisfaction. 2) the self-esteem was revealed to function as a mediator in the relationship between depression and life satisfaction in this population. Finally, the implications and limitations of this study were discussed, and the suggestions for future studies were also presented.
