잉여접근법에서 이윤율 결정을 분석하는 방식에는 크게 두 가지가 있다. 첫째는 대표적으로 스라파가 사용한 ‘가격방정식’ 방식이다. 이에 비해 ‘잉여 방정식’ 방식은고전학파 경제학자들과 특히 마르크스에 의해 사용되었지만 현대적 분석에서는 상대적으로 논의가 적은 편이다. 이 논문은 우선 잉여방정식 방식이 무엇인지 소개하고, 다음에 잉여접근법의 현대적 재구성에서 잉여방정식 방식을 명시적으로 사용하는 두 가지 시도를 논의한다. 스라파의 ‘표준체계’와 가레냐니의 ‘통합 임금재부문’이 그것이다. 이 논문은 두 시도의 유사점과 차이점을 확인한다. 이런 논의에서 주목할 점은, 상품가치의 측정에서 애덤 스미스가 제시했지만 리카도가 강력히 비판했던 지배노동에 한정적이기는 하지만 중요한 역할이 부여된다는 것이다.
Abstract
Two methods can be distinguished in the way in which the surplus approach analyses the determination of the rate of profits. The first is the ‘price equations’ method, of which Sraffa is the representative user. The second, what is to be called the ‘surplus equation’ method, has been relatively less discussed, even though it was adopted by the Classical economists and, in particular, Marx. The present paper first explains what the surplus equations method is; then, it discusses the two attempts that utilize this method in the modern reconstruction of the surplus approach: Sraffa’s ‘Standard system’ and Garegnani’s ‘integrated wagegoods sector’. Similarities and differences between the two attempts are identified. What emerges as notable is that a substantial, if limited, role is assigned to the measurement of value in terms of labour commanded, which was proposed by Adam Smith but subsequently severely criticized by Ricardo.
