아동비만치료의 지침

Guidelines for childhood obesity treatment programs: Based on recent evidence

초록

아동비만은 신체적, 심리적 폐해가 큰 문제로서, 건강심리학자들이 전문성을 가지고 적극적으로 다루어야 할 분야이다. 보건복지부의 국민건강증진종합계획(Health Plan 2010)에서 적정체중유지의 중요성을 언급하고 있으나 아직도 세부 실행 방안이 마련되지 않고 있는 시점에서 본 연구는 아동비만을 어떻게 도울 지에 관한 지침을 최신 지식에 근거해서 제시하고자 한다. 이 지침은 체중위주가 아닌 건강위주의 접근법, 아동의 신체적, 심리적, 사회적 건강 모두의 증진을 강조하는 접근법을 강조한다. 본 연구에서는 또한 추상적인 지침에서 한 걸음 더 나아가 구체적인 방법들을 설명하면서 그 방법들이 도출된 이론이나 최신의 경험적 연구를 제시하고자 한다. 이는 상담소, 보건소, 학교 등의 현장에서 비만아동을 돕고자 하는 사람들이 특수상황에서 적절히 응용할 수 있도록 돕기 위함이다. 마지막으로, 지침을 현장에 적용할 때 제기될 수 있는 문제나 장애물을 논하고 대처방안을 제시했다.

Abstract

Childhood obesity is both physically and psychologically costly to those who suffer from it and health psychologists need to put themselves forward and offer contributions to its treatment. Although The Ministry of Health and Welfare recognizes importance of the maintenance of appropriate weight in Health Plan 2010, detailed objectives or plans have not yet set to this point of time. The author offers guidelines in treatment of childhood obesity to facilitate the official move. These guidelines encourage a health-centered, rather than weight-centered, approach that focuses on the whole child, physically, psychologically and socially. In addition, specific methods to embody guidelines were illustrated and their rationales and recent empirical evidence were given if available. The primary goal of this paper is to help professionals in the field of childhood obesity, that are clinics, community health center, schools, etc. understand the principles of childhood obesity treatment and apply them to individual situations. Clinical issues and impediments and their possible solutions were also discussed.
