본 연구의 주된 관심은 여성들의 육체 관리 행위의 상징적 의미와 정체성 형성과정으로의 연관성, 육체 관리 행위에 관한 집단적 아비투스와 이를 통한 정체성 구별짓기, 마지막으로 육체 관리에 관한 사회적 결정요인과의 상관관계와 함의를 규명하고자 하는 것이었다. 이 논의의 결론은 크게 두 가지로 정리된다. 첫째는 육체 관리를 통한 여성 정체성 형성 과정은 행위자의 정치․사회․문화적 준거에 따라 차별화된 전략으로 실천되고 있었다는 점이다. 둘째, 여성의 육체 관리 행위는 육체에 대한 외부의 시선이 굴절된 강압으로 행위자에게 체화된 실천이라는 분석이다. 결과적으로 여성의 정체성은 전통적 가치관이 상당 부분 희석되고, 후기 현대성이 그 자리를 대신하고 있는 현 시점에서도 여전히 온전한 자리매김을 하지 못하고 있다고 평가할 수 있다. 여성 정체성에 대한 평가절하적 인식은 고스란히 여성의 육체로 옮겨갔으며, 여전히 여성은 스스로를 위한 성찰적 기획을 감행하는 데 무수한 장애에 직면해 있는 것이 사실이다. ‘성 담론이 억압된 것이 아니라, 부르주아지들의 이해관계에 따라 재생산’되는 것처럼 여성의 육체에 관한 담론 역시 끊임없이 ‘그’들의 잣대에 맞춰 확대 재생산되고 있는 것이다. 결국, 우리가 겪고 있는 한국 사회가 과연 서구의 학문적 논의에서처럼 자본주의가 쾌락주의로 대체되는 중심적인 가치의 변화 현상이 일어나고 있는지, 그래서 서구와 동일한 인류학적 궤적을 그리고 있는가에 대해서는 보다 심도 있는 논의가 필요할 것으로 보인다.
Abstract
The main concern of this study is to examine the symbolic meaning of women's behavior about physical training, relation with the forming process of their identity, 'collectively Habitus' about physical training and identity distinction through it, and significance and correlation with social determinable factors of physical training. The conclusion of the debate can be divided into two facts: the forming process of woman's identity, and woman's physical training behavior. First, forming process of woman's identity has been practiced by using different strategies based on politics, society, and culture. Second, woman's physical training behavior is analyzed as an acquired act through transformed pressure by the external view of the body Consequently, woman's identity is assessed that it would be out of position at the moment with traditional values is diluted and replaced by post-modernity. Devaluated recognition of the woman's identity is moved to the body, and it is true that when they are decisive of introspective planning, women confront many obstacles. Sexual discourse is not repressed, but it is reproduced by the interest of the Bourgeoisie; discourse on the woman's body is also an expansive reproduction from their point of view. In conclusion, it seems necessary to debate on the academic argument of the west, shifting the present situation of the main value in which capitalism is replaced by hedonism would occur, so it would follow in accordance with western anthropological trace.
