Abstract

The rapidly changing digital transformation era highlights the need for personal and societal collaboration in problem-solving skills in the face of opportunities and threats. This is not an exception in the public sector, and a change in the education method for nurturing future public sector talent is necessary. This study explored the applicability of a new learning method based on the expectation that a PBL method based on differentiated principles, as opposed to traditional education methods, could serve as a turning point for future public sector talent cultivation. To this end, we analyzed the "Digital Governance" class case designed as a PBL process and explored the value and significance of using PBL for education in enhancing collaborative problem-solving skills for the public sector. Through the "Digital Governance" class case, we confirmed that the PBL process promotes challenging exploration and professional analytical skills, collaborative communication and sharing, and dynamic self-reflection and feedback monitoring capabilities for enhancing collaborative problem-solving skills required of future public sector talents. In addition, we argued that discussions on the attempts and expansion of various education methods such as PBL are necessary for the cultivation of future public sector talents.
