초록

Objectives: In this study, we aimed to understand the overall perception on the use of Korean medicine and identify factors necessary for revitalizing and improving its application for children and adolescents. Methods: We conducted a survey using an online platform and a face-to-face questionnaire, targeting 198 caregivers who visited Korean medical institutions from September 04,2023 to October 24,2023. The questionnaire consisted of questions on demographic characteristics of respondents and patients, purpose of using Korean medicine, experience and satisfaction levels, willingness to use or recommend its use, and suggestions for improvement. Results: The most common reason for visiting Korean medical institutions was for the treatment of respiratory conditions. The most frequently treated age group was early adolescents, and the most anticipated type of Korean medicine treatment was herbal medicine. Additionally, a high demand for information exists, such as providing safety information on treatment, presenting evidence for the efficacy of treatment, and standardizing clinical processes as points requiring improvement. Conclusions: To develop Korean medicinal treatments for children and adolescents, satisfying the opinions of caregivers identified through this survey is necessary. In addition, professional education must be employed to train Korean medical doctors who specialize in the care of children and adolescents.
