Abstract
This paper analyzes the impact of technological change on the Korean labor market. Specifically, it tests whether technological change induces an increase in relative demand for the skill. Estimates of the earnings equation reveal that educational wage differential is relatively greater in industries with rapid technological change than in industries with slower technological changes. These results strongly confirm the hypothesis of skill-biased technological change in Korea, which is one of the evidence of the pervasive skill-biased technological change around the world. However, panel analysis of earnings function reveals that the increase of educational returns in industries with rapid technical changes are mostly explained by the increase of returns to worker's unobserved heterogeneity such as one's intrinsic ability.
