Abstract
This study is an analysis on the structural-causal relationship between successful factors of government-supported industry-university collaborations. From the resource-based view, the collaboration performance is set as a dependent variable and the latent variables are resource-input, communication systems, technology marketing and partner selection. An empirical analysis using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was conducted based on the questionnaire results from university professors and industry personnel who have experience in technology-transfer organizations supported by the industry-university collaboration program, Connect Korea. In the resource-based view, the results show that the resource-input is a factor that has direct influence on the industry-university collaboration performance, and at the same time, has a causal relationship structure, which with networking, influences the collaboration performances. The causal relationship structure within networking is successively influenced by communication systems, technology marketing and partner selection. Therefore, in order to increase the efficiency of industry-university collaborations, it is necessary to recognize that the resource-input is connected to the mutual interactive activities of organizations, and the establishment and management of networks inside and outside of the organizations should be carried out simultaneously. On the other hand, the resource-input and the communication systems do not have direct significant influence in partner selection. Thus, technology marketing is a crucial factor in choosing the right partner, since it clarifies the objectives and content information needed between collaboration partners for mutual profit.
