Abstract

This study aims to shed a new light on Kim, Dong-ni's theory of writing stories. He wrote novels personally and gave lessons in creative writing at Seolabeol Arts College. By receiving the theory of foreign literary men, and by explaining his way of creating works and his process of it, he formulated the theory of writing stories. The essay he wrote about theory of writing stories is a part of creative education for beginners who write fictions. The theory of writing stories is composed largely of composition, so-called plot, and partially theme, character, material. Composition is the most remarkable thing in his theory. Because, it is preferential task that how compose the story in writing fiction at first. He expressed his opinion about composition many times, that is the synthetic composition, contingency, accident, dramatic development, causality, etc. They are the most important laws and elements of composition, which means unity, plausibility, accident, causality, relativity. We can analyze his world of creation, through the theory of composition, theme, character and material in his fictions. It is important. Kim, Dong-ni laid a cornerstone of education of creative writing early. So the study on his theory is very use for understanding his literature, and ground work for understanding our theory of writing stories.
