초록
The goal of this study is to prove the positive effect of teaching primary English to elementary school students who are differentiated with respect to the proficiency level. The 7th curriculum suggests the differentiated group class, in which differentiation is mainly made on the proficiency level. In order to implement this suggestion, the content and class time should be structured and allotted with flexibility. In this study, we restructured and revised the content of the two lessons of the 6th grade English for the differentiated learning groups of students, which is the experimental group. We tracked down the change of both the experimental and the control group's overall interest in English learning. We also investigated effectiveness of the differentiated group class, by means of measuring improvement in listening ability for the differentiated group and the non-differentiated group. The results show that this type of differentiation eventually helps elementary school students to get interested in English learning and improve their overall English communication skills.
