Abstract
Giving a focus on that Haseo Kim In-Hoo embodied traditional plays through poetry, this study investigated the embodiment aspects and suggested its meaning. Of Kim In-Hoo’s Chinese poetry, a total of 8 poems with 8 themes depicted the following traditional plays: 「Gyokgubu」, 「Gyeongdosa」, 「Gyeongdo」, 「Gyeongdosi」, 「Hansikiljak」, 「Sangsadapchong」, 「Gwangyokgu」, and 「Gwandeung」. The eight poems with eight themes were categorized into two types: One depicted plays realistically through intuition and experience; The other imagined Gyeongdo plays relating to Gulwon, one of Choguo loyal subjects. 「Gyokgubu」, 「Hansikiljak」, 「Sangsadapchong」, 「Gwangyokgu」, and 「Gwandeung」 were the afore-mentioned type. 「Gyeongdosa」, 「Gyeongdo」, and 「Gyeongdosi」 were the later type. This study paid a special attention to 「Gyokgubu」, 「Hansikiljak」, and 「Gwangyokgu」, which embodied Kyokku the upper classes enjoyed at that time. Kim In-Hoo depicted Kyokku in a real and dynamic way in his poetry. 「Gyeongdosa」, 「Gyeongdo」, and 「Gyeongdosi」 were characterized by the poet’s maximized imagination. The poetry for which the poet exercised his imagination in respect to Gyeongdo was not common. Therefore, it was suggested that it was the meaning of the poetry relating to Gyeongdo play. As Kim In-Hoo expressed Kyokku in a real way, it was defined that it was the meaning of Kyokku poetry. At the time when Kim In-Hoo was active in writing poetry, as Kyokku was rarely expressed realistically, it was suggested that Kyokku poetry’s meaning was significant.
