Abstract
A Study on Taoist Trend of Gyeongil(敬一)’s Literature Kim, Seung-ho At seventeenth century monk writers began to write poem and novel, Donggyejip(東溪集) is written by Gyeongil(敬一), the Buddhist monk author, which were driven to reveal Confucianism, Buddhism. And Taoism, has stifled emotional development and spontaneous expression of life. Gyeongil comprehends the essence of the Taoism and choose Buddhism as the path to his enlightenment. The tenets of three religions(三敎) are incorporated into the texture of his poem, which can be said to afford an interesting indication of the current social attitude toward a life in secularization. Taoism, which flourished from the sixteenth to the seventeenth century as the retired religion, gave rise to religious tales and live of famous priests and their miracles. Among the best known is The Lord of Heaven of Taoism(玉皇上帝) believed to have been in Heaven and man, takes the role of a historian to recount the Taoism view of the virtuous sovereign and his royal subjects. Gayajinyongwangdangkiurok(伽倻津龍王堂奇遇錄) express the discontent and pent-up grievance of a man who has to live in a society which does not promote people according to their qualification. The natural calamity disaster and God's help reappearance of a happy world at the end of the story reflect the author's wishes for improving the political situation of his day. Another type of prose, which slows a definite hermit's delights, is the personified story in which the writer speaks though the hermit lips already deceased or endows inanimate objects and living things with Taoism or feelings in the category of personified prose.
