초록

‘읽기(reading)’ 過程을 통해 學習者들은 어휘를 習得하게 되고, 先行 知識을 쌓게 되어 目標語로 대화를 할 때 더 많은 情報를 이해하고 표현할 수 있도록 돕는다. 이러한 ‘읽기’는 특히 대학에서 修學하고 있는 고급 단계 學習者에게 필요한 전문적인 지식을 習得하는 데 가장 중요한 영역이라고 할 수 있다. 그러므로 이들에게 필요한 읽기 戰略은 무엇이며 이러한 戰略의 使用은 어떻게 이루어져야 하는지에 대한 연구는 매우 필요하다고 할 수 있다.이 연구에서는 읽기 과정에 필요한 전략의 유형에 대해 살펴보고 韓國語 母語 話者와 外國人 留學生이 사용하고 있는 읽기 戰略의 頻度를 측정하여 한국어 모어 화자와 韓國語 學習者 間의 戰略 사용 樣相의 差異를 밝히고자 하였다. 그러나 差異 檢證과 상관관계 檢證에서 모두 有意한 값을 얻을 수 없었다. 또한 읽기 성적과 전략 사용 빈도의 차이 역시 有意한 값을 얻을 수 없었다.

Abstract

A Study on Comparing Reading Strategies of Korean Language Learners and Native Students Lee, Jung-hee Reading facilitates learners to acquire vocabulary and to build up their schemata, helping them understand more information in the target language. It also helps learners to use the target language more fluently. In that regard reading is the most important domain for language learners who study at the advanced level in college, especially for acquiring professional knowledge. Therefore, investigating the learners’ reading strategies and how they are used is an important area to consider in research. This paper aims to examine various types of strategies needed for effective reading by measuring reading strategies employed by nonnative students and Korean undergraduate and graduate students. This research measures how often these methods are used. The primary focus is on the differences in strategies used by students of different national backgrounds. Unfortunately, there was not any meaningful significance in the ‘coefficient of correlation’ and ‘coefficient of difference’ readings. Likewise, no significant observations were made in the frequency of different strategies used by students of high reading performance and low reading performance. Such discoveries reveal a gap in the views traditionally held by the research that there is a direct correlation between reading strategies and language learners.
