Abstract

Review of the Literary Studies on Han, Yong-woon in the North Korea You, Moon-sun This monograph tried to survey the history of literary studies on Han, Yong-woon(Manhae was his pen name) in the North Korea. For a long time Manhae had been ignored or non-judged, but after about 1986, when the recognitions of literary history in the North Korea suddenly changed, he was officially admitted into the books of literary history. Afterwards the affirmations and estimations for him has been strengthening. We could verify them in the accounts on the relations with Buddhism, his socio-political thoughts, the interpretation of ‘You’(Nim, the heart of Manhae's poetry), and the total evaluation on Manhae. Another intention of this review was to examine the mutations of the literary studies in the North Korea by a test of Manhae. I could get a more detailed design by using various literary works as more as possible. I anticipate to orient to a unificated literary history in the Korea on the accumulation of such works.
