청소년 우울증상과 학교적응의 상호관계: 학대방임적 양육에 따른 다집단 분석

초록

본 연구의 목적은 청소년 우울증상과 학교적응의 종단적 상호관계를 분석하고, 두 변수의 관계가 학대방임적 양육을 지속적으로 경험한 고위험 청소년과 안정적으로 학대방임에 거의 노출되지 않은 저위험 청소년 집단 간에 차이를 나타내는지 분석하는 데 있다. 이를 위하여 한국아동청소년패널(초4 패널) 조사에 참여한 학생 1,081명의 초등학교 6학년(2012)부터 고등학교 1학년(2016)까지 자료를 사용하였다. 학대방임적 양육의 변화양상에 따른 고위험과 저위험 집단 분류를 위해서 잠재계층성장분석을 실시하였고, 우울증상과 학교적응의 종단적 상호관계가 집단별로 차이를 보이는지 확인하기 위하여 다집단 경로모형에 교차지연 효과를 결합하여 분석하였다. Mplus 프로그램을 사용해 분석한 결과, 학대방임적 양육 수준에 따라 우울증상과 학교적응의 관계가 다르게 나타남을 확인하였다. 구체적으로 저위험 집단에서는 중2와 중3의 학교적응이 1년 뒤 우울증상의 위험을 낮추는 것으로 나타난 반면, 우울증상이 학교적응에 미치는 영향력은 유의미하지 않았다. 고위험 집단에서는 초6과 중2의 우울증상이 1년 뒤 학교적응을 예측하는 것으로 분석되었고, 그 반대인 학교적응이 우울증상에 미치는 영향은 유의미하지 않았다. 한편, 우울증상과 학교적응의 영향력은 고1까지 안정적으로 유지되는 것으로 분석되었는데, 이러한 경향은 두 집단 모두에서 나타났으며, 학교적응의 안정성은 학대방임 저위험 집단에서 더 높게 나타났다. 이는 청소년의 우울증상을 줄이고, 학교적응을 증진하기 위한 프로그램의 성과를 높이기 위해서는 부모의 역할이 중요함을 시사하는 것이다. 본 연구의 주요결과를 토대로 학교에서 운영할 수 있는 사회복지서비스와 프로그램에 대한 시사점을 논의하였다.

Abstract

This study investigated the longitudinal cascade linking depressive symptom and school adjustment for adolescents at high and low risk of abusive and neglectful parenting to understand whether the longitudinal relationships were different across adolescents in high and low risk groups. The analysis sample consisted of 1,081 students who participated in the Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey from the 6th grade of elementary school(2012) through the 1st grade of high school(2016). Multiple-group path analyses with cross-lagged effects were conducted using Mplus program For the low risk group of adolescents, school adjustment in 2nd and 3rd grade of middle school significantly reduced risk of depressive symptom a year later, but not the other way around. Depressive symptom in 6th grade of elementary and 2nd grade of middle school among adolescents in the high risk group significantly predicted school adjustment a year later but not the other way around as well. Other findings indicated substantial stability in depressive symptom and school adjustment over time across high and low risk groups. Findings highlight the critical role of parenting and parents’ involvement in prevention programs to reduce risk of adolescent depression while promoting school adjustment. Further implications to improve social work programs and services in school settings are discussed.
