도시화와 중국, 중국의 도시화 ─ 한자의 소통(불)가능성에 대한 도시문화연구적 접근

Abstract

Not only is urbanization special as it is in the case of China, but is also universal, which is enough to say that most societies across the globe have already experienced or are experiencing it. In a word, the Chinese speciality and global universality surrounding urbanization, or the so-called global scale urbanization abstracted from the particularity of urbanization in China indicates some inseparable relationships between urbanization, China, and the urbanization of China. Therefore, this work attempts, by making good use of a brand-new methodology of ‘Urban Cultural Studies’, to explore other possible relationships between such interrelatedness and the (in)communicability of Hanja, and how the resulting outlook can be predicted. To this end, first, based on the theoretical and practical background of ‘planetary urbanization (urbanisation planétaire)’, the relationship between the urbanization on a global scale and China is clarified. Second, China's urbanization is analyzed in the framework of ‘urban revolution’, especially within the context of an anthropocenic transition of ‘from the rural (rural society) to the urban (urban society)’. And last, it will be demonstrated, within another context of the state production of urban spaces, that the state-communist party has deeply intervened not merely in the production of China's real and virtual spaces, but also in that of its people’s mental spaces closely related to the both spaces produced by the state mode of production. Thus, in the final analysis, the (in)communicability of Hanja is claimed by demonstrating the impossibility of dialecticizing real and virtual spaces, or establishing a dialectical relationship between them, and an alternative is proposed by analyzing another aspect of ‘urban revolution’.
