초등학생의 문화포용성 분석을 통한 반편견교육 방안

다문화사회에서 사회통합을 저해하는 주된 요소 중 하나는 타문화에 대한 편견이다. 본 연구의 목적은 초등학생의 문화포용성을 측정할 수 있는 척도를 개발하고, 이를 반편견교육에 활용하여, 초등학교 현장에서 실시할 수 있는 효과적인 반편견 교수·학습 방안을 제시하는 데에 있다. 이를 위하여 학생들의 문화포용성 수준을 측정하여 문화포용성에 영향을 미치는 요인들과 학년별 차이를 분석하였고, 학생들의 문화포용성 수준에 맞는 반편견교육 방안을 개발 및 적용한 후 문화포용성 수준의 변화가 있는지 알아보았다. 반편견교육 실시 후 사례군의 문화포용성(지식)에 대한 사전-사후 차이검증 결과, 모든 문항에서 통계적으로 유의한 차이를 보였다. 문화포용성(태도)에 대한 사전점수와 사후점수의 차이를 검증한 결과, 다문화학습에 대한 관심 및 호감도, 편견의 부정적 영향에 대한 인식은 반편견교육 실시 전에 비해 교육 후에 향상되었고, 반편견교육을 통해 학생들이 가지고 있던 편견이 감소하였음을 확인할 수 있었다.
Abstract
Cultural embracing ability is the ability to recognize cultural differences between one’s own culture and other foreign cultures, and to understand other cultures without prejudice. The purposes of this study are to develop the scale of measuring anti-bias education, and to suggest the teaching and learning methods of anti-bias education at elementary school level. The study examined the changes in the level of cultural embracing ability after the anti-bias training, based on each student's level of development and cultural embracing abilities. Differences in cultural embracing ability(knowledge domain and attitude domain) between pre-test and post test results of the case group showed a statistically significant difference in all questions. Interest in cultural learning and awareness of the negative effects of prejudice were improved after the anti-bias training. Anti-bias training based on the analysis of learners' cultural embracing ability should be planned and conducted continuously.
