본 연구는 해외연수 경험이 있는 공학계열 대학생이 인식한 글로벌역량의 의미를 탐구하고, 글로벌역량 향상을 위한 교육 프로그램 설계에 유용한 시사점을 제공하기 위해 수행되었다. 이를 위해 국내 6개 대학의 공학계열 대학생 30명을 대상으로 반구조화된 질문에 대한 응답을 수집하여, 주제분석을 실시하였다. 그 결과, 6개의 주요 테마를 도출하고, 역량을 구성하는 지식, 기술, 태도 영역으로 구분하였다. 지식 영역에는 ‘국제 이슈와 산업 동향 이해’, ‘융합적 사고를 통한 전문지식’, 기술 영역은 ‘외국어 소통과 교류 능력’과 ‘협업을 통한 문제해결능력’, 태도 영역에서는 ‘타문화에 대한 존중과 수용’, ‘호기심과 도전정신’이 주요 요소로 포함되었다. 본 연구의 결과를 토대로, 공학계열 학생들의 특성을 반영한 맞춤형 글로벌역량 프로그램 개발의 필요성과 학습자의 경험을 반영한 실질적인 학습 기회 제공의 중요성을 강조하였다. 본 연구는 공학계열 대학생의 글로벌역량 향상을 위한 이론적 및 실천적 시사점을 제시하고, 다양한 전공 및 국제적 맥락에서 후속 연구의 필요성을 제안하였다.
Abstract
This study explores the meaning of global competence as perceived by engineering students with overseas training experience and offers practical insights for designing educational programs to enhance this competence. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 30 engineering students from six universities in South Korea, and the responses were analyzed through content analysis. The study identified six major themes, which were categorized into knowledge, skills, and attitudes; (K) "understanding international issues and industrial trends" and "specialized knowledge through integrative thinking"; (S) "foreign language communication" and "collaborative problem-solving"; (A) "respect and embrace cultural diversity" and "curiosity and a spirit of challenge" Based on these findings, we suggested the importance of developing customized global competence programs that reflect the characteristics of engineering students and provided practical learning opportunities that incorporate students' experiences. The results provided both theoretical and practical implications for enhancing the global competencies of engineering students, and suggest the need for further research across various academic disciplines and international contexts.
