이 연구는 대인 의사소통과 정체성이 상호 밀접한 관련을 맺고 있으며 의사소통에 중요하게 다루어져야 한다는 관점에서 현행 국어과 교육과정에 제시된 내용을 토대로 그 구체적인 교육 내용과 방법을 모색하였다. 이를 위하여 의사소통 분야의 연구들에서 밝힌 정체성의 본질을 고찰하고 이를 토대로 화법 수업에서 활용할 수 있는 구체적인 정체성 교육 내용을 제안하였다. 본 연구에서 다룬 내용은 다음과 같이 요약할 수 있다. 먼저 정체성과 관련된 의사소통 연구들을 고찰한 결과, 정체성의 특징은 다음의 세 가지 특징으로 요약할 수 있다. 첫째, 정체성은 우리의 여러 특징들이 모여 구성된 복합적이고 다면적인 특징을 가지고 있다는 점, 둘째, 그러한 정체성은 우리가 가지고 태어난 것이 아니라 과거의 대인관계 의사소통을 통해 형성되고 변화된 것이라는 점, 셋째, 이러한 정체성의 변화는 현재도 진행 중이며, 우리의 모든 의사소통에서 항상 실현되고 협상된다는 점이다. 아울러 이러한 특징들이 구체적으로 드러나는 의사소통 장면을 통해 그것이 의사소통과 어떻게 관련을 맺고 있는지를 살펴보았다. 이후 이를 토대로 정체성 교육 내용과 방법을 모색하는 방향을 제안하였는데, 교육과정에서 목표하고 있는 두 가지 부분, 인지 측면과 방법 측면으로 나누어 각각 구체적인 교육내용과 활동을 제안하였다. 인지 측면에서는 정체성의 특징을 이해시킴에 있어 학습자의 경험과 연관 지어 총체적인 이해 학습이 이루어지게 할 것을 강조하였고, 방법 측면에서는 실제 의사소통 상황에서 적용할 수 있는 구체적인 기준과 의사소통의 상호교섭성이 반영된 교육 내용이 되어야 함을 강조하였다
Abstract
Identity is closely intertwined with the interpersonal communication, so it should be an important issue in human communication. The purpose of this study is suggesting a concrete way to educate identity for listening and speaking education on the basis of current Korean education curriculum. For this, I examined the nature of identity which is bound up with the interpersonal communication and the purpose of identity education in the current curriculum. Details of the discussion are summarized as follows. At first, I found out several important characteristics of identity related the interpersonal communication through examining communication researches about identity: (1)identity is multidimensional, (2)identity is constructed and changed within the interpersonal communication, (3)identity negotiation is ongoing whenever we communicate with other. And I also described communicative situations and contexts which are related with each of these characteristics. And then, I discussed the content and method of identity education based on these theories. I suggested two ways with concrete activities as examples which meet the purpose of the current curriculum. One is about understanding the concept of identity: students should make link that concept with their own experiences. And the other is about applying this in real-life communication: students should learn and practice the concrete behavior or ways which is helpful when they negotiate their identity with other person.
