이 연구의 목적은 혼잣말과 자기복잡성(self-complexity), 대인의사소통 능력 간의 상관관계를 밝히는 데 있다. 혼잣말을 통한 자기반성 및 분석 활동은 인지적 발달에 영향을 미칠 것이다. 그 가운데 자신의 역할성에 대한 인식을 복잡하게 하는 능력인 자기복잡성은 결국 대인의사소통 상황에서 자신의 역할뿐 아니라 타인과의 관계를 이해하는 데에도 도움이 될 것을 예상할 수 있다. 이에 이 세가지 능력 간의 상관관계를 알아볼 뿐 아니라 세 관계의 관련성의 경로를 확인하고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 Brinthaupt,Hein,& Kramer,(2009)의 혼잣말 척도, Linvile(1985)의 자기복잡성 설문지, Rubin, & Martin,(1994)의 대인의사소통 설문지를 활용하여 대학생 151명을 대상으로 설문하였다. 이 세가지 설문지를 사용한 것은 자기 점검형 설문지라는 점에서 설문 방식의 동질성을 확보할 수 있었기 때문이다. 또한, 대인의사소통 능력이 대인 간의 관계에서 자기 역할과 타인의 역할을 인지하는 차원이라는 특성을 고려하여, 자기 역할성을 인식하는 혼잣말 척도지와 자기복잡성 설문을 활용한 것이다. 조사 결과 세 가지 능력 간의 유관한 상관성을 확인할 수 있었고, 혼잣말이 직접적으로 대인의사소통에 영향을 미치기도 하지만 자기복잡성을 통한 간접적 영향력을 미침을 확인하였다. 이를 통해 혼잣말-자기복잡성-대인의사소통 능력의 경로를 확인할 수 있었다.
Abstract
The purpose of this research is to identify the interrelation among the three capabilities of self-talk, self-complexity, and interpersonal communication. We predicted that self-reflection and analysis through self-talk will affect cognitive development. Self-complexity, the skill that makes one’s perception of his or her role more complex, is estimated to help understanding one’s own role as well as relationships with others through interpersonal communication. This paper aims to look at the interrelation among the three capabilities and confirm the routes of the relationship among the three. A survey was created and conducted on 151 university students. These questionnaires were used to grant uniformity to the survey methods because they are self-reflecting questions. Considering the role of oneself and others within interpersonal relationships, self-talk standards and self-complexity questionnaires that recognize one’s own role have been used. Results showed an interrelation among the three capabilities and confirmed that self-talk directly affects interpersonal communication and also has an indirect effect through self-complexity. Thus, this paper confirmed the routes among the three capabilities of self-talk, self-complexity, and interpersonal communication.
