인문학으로 대학을 디자인하다: 운정 성락서의 인문학적 대학 비전의 리더십

Abstract

Unjeong Seong Rak-seo(1905∼1988) was an educator, administrator, and politician, as well as a Confucian scholar who served as the head of Sungkyunkwan three times in a row. In particular, in the first half of the 1950s, he served as the deputy president of Chungnam National University as the governor of Chungcheongnam-do, and left a great mark on the management of the province and laying the foundation for the development of the university. This article intends to examine the contents and significance of leadership that Unjeong showed as the deputy president of Chungnam National University. Unjeong has achieved not only practicing the spirit of sharing and learning, but also establishing a university model that coexists with the local community. Above all, he was the owner of the president's leadership of humanities who wanted to design the university with the humanities. This article looked at three aspects in this regard, and the contents are as follows. First, he wanted to realize the construction of the university with the awareness of the spirit which inherited the spirit of Widang Jeong In-bo and with the national spirit. Second, he attempted the university specialization plan to create a cradle for Korean studies research. Third, he designed the humanities-centered university emphasizing ethical practice, including history and philosophy. Taken together, the leader spirit that Unjeong showed as the deputy university president is meaningful in that he tried to present the future vision of the university based on the humanities.
