Abstract

In this study, an investigation was carried out on traditional patterns in cultural assets and remains of Yeongcheon. Also, analysis of pattern preference and analysis of practical hanbok or item design preference were carried out against tourists and citizens in Yeongcheon by categories of the entire population, male population, and female population. Furthermore, we developed designs of high-value added cultural products using Yeongcheon's traditional patterns and produced prototypes.The results of Yeoncheon's traditional pattern preference analysis showed that the pattern which all three population groups feel is beautiful is lotus arabesque pattern found in paper windows of Daeung Shrine, Unhae Temple in Cheontong-myun. For all population groups, similar results were found in the investigation of the pattern preferred in practical hanbok and items.Based on these results of analysis, five pieces of practical hanbok and six pieces of practical items using traditional patterns found in Yeongcheon's cultural assets and remains were designed and their prototypes were produced.
