로컬리티 재구성 과정에 대한 이론적 분석틀

초록

이 논문은 근래에 들어와서 다양한 변화의 압력을 받아 온 지역사회의 대응 양상 및 전략 그리고 그 결과로서 등장하는 지역사회의 변화를 ‘로컬리티’(locality)의 재구성 과정이라는 관점에서 살펴보고자 하였다. 이에 따라 이 연구는광주·전남의 로컬리티의 지속과 변화에 대한 구체적인 접근방법을 모색하기 위해 로컬리티를 둘러싼 국내외의 선행연구들의 논의를 살펴보고, 기존 연구가 지닌 이론적 문제점을 종합적으로 검토하면서, 이러한 문제점을 극복할 수 있는 새로운 이론적 개념과 분석틀을 제시하고자 하였다. 본 연구는 로컬리티를 국가적 그리고 지구적 수준의 영향력과로컬 수준의 사회적 관계망 간의 상호작용이 생성해 낸 구체적 결과물로 규정하고자 한다. 즉, 로컬리티를 ‘글로벌-내셔널-로컬’이라는 다중적 스케일의 구조적 맥락 속에서 일정한 공통의 장소를 근간으로 다양한 행위자들에 의해 구성되는 사회적 구축물로 파악하였다.

Abstract

Regional communities have recently tried to change themselves in order to cope with rapidlychanging circumstances. Giving attention to their strategic responses as well as consequences as a resultof their countermeasures, this study attempts to suggest a theoretical framework to analyze the process oflocality reconstruction in a dynamic and comprehensive way. To achieve this purpose, after figuring outthe previous studies’ methodological and theoretical limitations, we suggest that locality should be understoodas a outcome of the mutual interactions between local, state, and global scale networks.
