20-30대 남성의 외모관리행동이 자아존중감에 미치는 영향

Abstract

Inner beauty was essential in the past, but contemporary society places importance on the external beauty of humans. This study aimed to identify the impact of appearance management behavior on self-esteem in men's 20s and 30s. This study was conducted through questionnaires that included appearance management behavior, self-esteem, and demographic variables. Moreover, the measurement consisted of a five-point Likert scale and an optional question. The subjects were men in their 20s and 30s, mainly in Seoul, Gyeonggi, and local areas, and the data were analyzed with SPSS 23.0 statistics program. Frequency analysis, factor analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis were employed. Concerning appearance management behavior on self-esteem in men in their 20s and 30s, makeup management, skincare, clothing management, and hairstyle management significantly affected positive self-esteem. As a result, the appearance management behavior of men in their 20s and 30s had a meaningful effect on self-esteem. By proving that appearance management behavior had a psychological impact, this study will serve as primary data to identify the relationship between appearance management behavior and self-esteem for men in their 20s and 30s and contribute to the fashion and beauty market development.
