AI 기술의 급속한 발달에 따라 기업들은 AI를 활용하여 운영 효율성을 향상시키고 새로운 비즈니스 모델을 창출하고 있다. 하지만 AI 활용이 증가하면서 예상치 못한 문제들도 발생하고 있는데 알고리즘 편향, 개인정보 침해, 저작권 문제 등과 같은 윤리적 문제들이 나타나고 있다. 그 결과 AI 기술과 서비스를 제공하는 기업에 대해서는 단순히 기술적 성능의 향상뿐만 아니라 AI를 책임감 있게 사용하며 사회적, 윤리적 책임을 다해야 한다는 사회적 요구가 커지고 있다. 기업들은 AI 기술을 책임감 있게 개발하고 배포하기 위해 ‘책임있는 AI(Responsible AI)’라는 이름으로 AI의 윤리적 측면에 대한 기업의 대응활동 방향을 마련하고 있다. 본 연구는 먼저 AI와 관련된 윤리적 원칙으로 중시되는 내용들을 살펴본다. 그리고 AI 윤리적 원칙을 실천하기 위한 기업의 ‘책임있는 AI’ 활동을 AI 라이프사이클에 따라 전략 및 계획수립 단계, 생태계 구축 단계, 개발 및 배포 단계, 모니터링 및 보완의 4단계로 구분하여 단계별 주요 활동 내용을 소개한다.
Abstract
With the rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI) technology, companies are using AI to improve operational efficiency and create new business models. However, with the increased use of AI comes unexpected ethical challenges, such as algorithmic bias, privacy infringement, and copyright issues. As a result, there is a growing social demand for companies that provide AI technologies and services not only to improve their technical performance, but also to use AI responsibly and fulfill their social and ethical responsibilities. In order to develop and deploy AI technologies responsibly, companies are developing a direction for their responses to the ethical aspects of AI under the name of “Responsible AI.” This study first reviews the ethical principles related to AI. In addition, companies’ responsible AI activities for practicing AI ethical principles are introduced at four stages according to the AI lifecycle: strategy and planning stage, ecosystem constructio stage, development and deployment stage, and monitoring and supplementation stage.
