초록
This paper examines the semantic behavior of the Korean repetitive adverb tasi ‘again’, focusing on its ability to allow an identical counter directional reading – an interpretation in which the repeated event moves in the opposite direction of the original – as well as a similar counter directional reading, where the repeated event is semantically similar but not identical to the original. Experimental evidence supports the availability of both readings. A similar pattern is observed with another Korean adverb tto ‘again’. These findings support a lexical analysis of repetitive adverbs, which can more easily account for the observed interpretive flexibility than a structural analysis.
