이 논문은 최명길의 미공개 문집인 지천유집(권20-23), 지천속집(권24)과 별본 지천유집(권1-4) 잔본의 서지적 가치를 논한 뒤, 그 시문집 속에 들어 있는 시를 중심으로 최명길의 증답수창시가 지닌 의미를 고찰하였다. 이 논문은 최명길의 시 가운데 증답수창의 시가 많다는 사실에 주목하고, 당시 그가 문학, 학문, 사상, 정치 면에서 매우 긴밀한 관계에 있던 인물들과 주고받은 증답수창의 양상을 개괄하여 보았다. 주된 자료는 지천속집을 이용하였으며, 편년을 고증할 때는 별본 지천유집을 이용하였다. 최명길은 사부에 해당하는 분들에게 존모의 감정과 지학조도(志學造道)의 상태를 밝히기 위해 수창과 증답의 시를 짓거나, 동지애를 확인하고 정치적 사안에 대한 공동보조를 촉구하기 위해서 시들을 지어 보냈다. 또한 이른바 주화와 척화의 의론이 분리되어 청론의 공격을 받았을 때 난국을 타개할 목적으로 청론의 주창자인 김상헌과의 화해를 의도하여 그와 시를 주고받았다. 응제시는 한 편도 없으며, 문학관이나 사상경향을 가탁하는 방편으로 수창이나 증답의 시를 지은 예는 없다.① 최명길은 이정귀와 신흠을 사부로 받들었다. 그는 그들의 시에 차운하는 방식으로 존모의 감정과 지학조도의 상태를 밝혔다. ② 최명길은 장유와의 증답수창에서 정국 운영을 동모(同謀)하기를 촉구하는 뜻을 강하게 담았다. 이에 비해 이식에게 준 증시에서는 협찬을 권유하면서도 정치적 우위를 유지하였으므로, 시적 표현은 권위적이면서 때때로 형식적이다.③ 최명길은 청의 징병을 거절하고 승려(독보)를 명나라에 파견한 일로 1642년(인조 20, 임오) 겨울에 청나라 심양 감옥에 구치되었다. 1643년 봄에 김상헌이 명나라를 위하여 절개를 지킨 죄로 구치되어 북관에 같이 갇혔다가 이듬해 함께 남관으로 감옥을 옮기기까지, 최명길은 김상헌과 시를 주고받으면서 자신의 충절을 밝히고 처지를 이해받고자 하였다. 따라서 그 시어가 매우 곡진하다.
Abstract
Jicheonyoojip, Jicheonsokjip, and separtely-descended Jicheonyoojip are the three undisclosed collections of Choi Myung-Gil's. This paper debated the value of these collections in the field of bibliography and investigated its poems with the object of giving each other. It is so characteristic that there are lots of poems with the object of giving each other in his collections. I paid attention to who the people were, and it also means that we can find out his status in connection with literature, learning, ideology, politics and so on from those poems. I summarized those poems on a case by case basis. A major material is Jicheonsokjip, and ascertained in detail historical evidence in reference to separtely-descended Jicheonyoojip. The main receptions of that kind of poems were mostly his teachers or kindred spirits. He showed respects to the teachers and stimulated comrades to participate in through those poems. I explained such conditions particularly by mentioning following examples. ① He reverenceed Lee Jeong-Gui and Shin Heum as a position of teacher. He showed his feelings of respects and states of study, by using their rhyme when he compose a poem. ② He stimulated Chang Yoo to participate his political line inward, by using poems. As opposed this case, he wished hold a dominant position while asking consents to Lee Sik. ③ He had experienced the life behind bars within a certain period of time. At that time he exposed his faithfulness to Kim Sang-Heon in same jail by composing poems. Therefore, poetic dictions were very earnest in that period.
