Abstract
Ecological poetry has developed from the stage to put emphasis on ecological conversion, via the stage to expand and intensify ecopoetical consciousness, to the stage to search for ecological alternative. Some works, devulging the environmental pollution or accusing modern civilization of causing ecological devastation, put great emphasis on ecological consciousness. Ecopoetical consciousness is devided into the expansion of ecopoetical consciousness and the intensification of ecopoetical consciousness. They are taken into consideration respectively. To show the expansion of ecopoetical consciousness, a lot of works produced by ecopoets are analyzed. As a result, it is found that there are various representation of ecological consciousness. Ecological poetry needs linguistic implications and poetic tensions if it is to gain literary qualities as well as social meanings. The poems should show things with symbols and images instead of telling things. Park's 'Inganmilim' is literature, not a propaganda. It shows us the picture of ecotopia, which is based on the Christianity. The poet is inspired by the Christianity and writes poems on ecological themes within the religious tradition. This is why his poems possess everlasting values. In order to unfold poetic thoughts, he has adopted different methods in his poems. For example, he uses longer forms, visual images, and phonetic symbols in a way they deepen the ecological meanings and obtain literary qualities with the distinctive characters of the Korean language. Thus, his works of art contribute to the wealthy tradition of the Korean literature.
