본 연구는 강원도 동계올림픽 경기장의 사후활용에 대한 사례탐구와 활용방안을 제시하는데 목적을 갖고 평창 동계올림픽 빙상경기 개최 도시 강릉의 빙상 경기장의 지리적 분포 분석과 활용제고 방안을 고찰하였다. 연구 결과 강릉올림픽파크는 「2018평창동계올림픽⋅패럴림픽」을 상징하는 대표적 국가 올림픽 유산의 세계적 도시로서 자긍심을 나타내는 상징적 장소로 자리 잡고 아시아와 세계 체육계에서 동계스포츠의 위상과 가치를 지속적으로 높여나가는 선도적 장소로 자리매김하였다. 따라서 강릉올림픽파크는 동계 올림픽 개최를 계기로 스포츠건강 선도거점도시로서 생활체육을 활성화시켜 올림픽도시의 책무를 통해 생활스포츠의 다변화와 인생 100세 시대 건강수명 연장의 전환점이 되는 지속 가능한 도시전환 모델로 평가받고 있다.
Abstract
This study is intended to explore cases for and come up with measures for the post-utilization of Winter Olympic Stadium in Gangwon Province. To achieve this, it analyzed the geographical distribution of an ice rink in Gangneung, the host city of the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics, and looked into the ways for improving its utilization. The findings showed that the Gangneung Olympic Park has been a symbolic place of pride as a world-class city of representative national Olympic heritage that symbolizes the 「2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics⋅Paralympics」 and a leading place to continuously increase the status and value of winter sports in Asian and global sports. Consequently, the Gangneung Olympic Park is considered a sustainable city transition model to be a turning point in the diversification of living sports and the extension of life expectancy in an 100-year-old era through the duty of Olympic city by activating living sports as a leading city for sports health in the wake of hosting a Winter Olympics.
