월미관광특구의 당면과제와 활성화 방안에 관한 연구

본 연구는 월미관광특구의 활성화를 위해 연구 지역의 관광현황 문제점을 분석하고, 당면과제를 파악하여 관광사업의 활성화 방안을 논의하고자 문헌연구와 답사를 실시하였다. 월미관광특구는 우리나라의 관문인 인천국제공항과 인접해 있고 역사문화관광자원과 해양관광자원 등 다양한 관광 인프라가 구축되어 있는 곳이며, 인천방문의 해와 2014년 아시안게임 등 관광특구로서의 매력을 증진시켜 활성화할 수 있는 계기를 마련하고 있다. 이와 같이 월미관광특구의 미래가치로서의 잠재성은 우수하지만 현재 특구사업을 통한 지역파급효과 및 외국인 관광객 유치효과 등의 측면에서 효율성을 고려한다면 다소 부진하다고 판단되어 지역의 특성을 고려하여 다발적 축제, 이벤트 보다는 특구를 차별화 특화시킬 수 있는 대표적 프로그램 개발이 시행되어야 할 것이다. 예로 outlet, 고급쇼핑몰, 벼룩 시장형 쇼핑, 골동품 쇼핑 등의 다양한 쇼핑 개발을 통해 공항과의 연계성 증진시켜야 하며. 테마파크(워터파크, 아쿠아리움, 영화관 등) 컨벤션센터, 등을 조성하여 특구사업을 활성화시켜야 한다 .
Abstract
This study has aimed to analyze the problems of tourism in Wolmi, Special Tourist Area as well as present problematic issues in the precinct by performing the research and field trips. Wolmi is located in near the Incheon International Airport, the gate of Korea with profound infrastructure of historical and cultural resources of tourism and even maritime resources and it is expecting chances of activating tourism as the host city of the year of visiting Incheon,2012 and the Asian Games, 2014. It is estimated that the influence of special tourist area is not remarkable even after the declaration of the special area for Wolmi in the aspects of economical booming and attracting the tourists although the area has quite enormous potential as the tourist spot. Thus it is desirable that various, differentiated, and representative programs should be developed and specialized. The enterprise to prosper Walmi should set out not with the eventful festivals but with the development programs of theme parks, and convention centers, and with the building plans such as outlets, premium and antique shopping malls as well as malls like flea market with the link to the Incheon International Airport.
