The effect of antimicrobials contained in cosmetics on skin microbials was investigated. Volunteers were in their twenties and put on skincare and makeup as usual. We took the microbials from their forehead, index finger, and middle finger and cultured them for two days. The cosmetics used by the volunteers had a total of 18 antimicrobials and 2-3 antimicrobials for each cosmetic. Result of the culture showed that the group that used cosmetics showed less microbial propagation than the group that did not use cosmetics; however, the difference in microbial propagation was little. 1,2-hexanediol showed less antimicrobial activity on skin than phenoxyethanol did
