Abstract
In this study, an experiment was conducted with 10 skilled and 10 unskilled persons to confirm the difference in kinematic variables of the Bulgarian Split Squat according to skill level. We observed Bulgarian Split Squat through 3D motion analysis and compared the range of motion of the trunk, hip, knee, ankle of skilled and unskilled groups. The results are as follows. First, in the frontal movement of the knee joint, the unskilled had a larger valgus than the skilled ones. Second, in the horizontal movement of the hip joint, the unskilled had a larger internal rotation than the skilled ones. Third, there was no significant difference in the range of motion of the skilled and unskilled in the trunk and ankle joints. This study shows that it is necessary to pay attention to excessive valgus stress of the knee joint when performing the Bulgarian Split Squat by a beginner in the future and implies that this can be controlled through strengthening the hip joint strength.
