평생교육관점에서의 현대사회 예술교육의 역할: 민화작가 예술교육소 참여자의 예술경험과 삶의 변화측면을 중심으로

초록

본 연구는 한국전통예술인‘민화’라는 매개체를 통해 오늘날 예술이 가져야 할 역할과 교육적 시사점을 평생교육 관점에서 알아보았다. 6개월에서 2년 6개월간 민화교육에 참여한 대상들에게 심층 면접과 참여 관찰을 통해 수집된 자료를 근거(Ground)로, 지속적으로 수정과 가설을 제시하며 이론을 도출하는 분석적 귀납(Analytic Induction)법을 사용하여 연구결과를 도출하였다. 그 결과, 평생교육 관점에서의 현대사회 예술교육의 역할을‘긍정적인 학습경험, 배움의 욕구, 내면적 성장, 자신의 가치 상승, 타인과의 소통의 도구, 학습공간에 대한 소속감, 의미를 발전시키려는 충동’등의 키워드로 도출하였다. 또한 지역 사회 속에서 증가하고 있는 소규모 사설예술교육소들의 역할에 대한 시사점을 발견하였다. 사설 예술교육소는 개개인에 맞춘 자유로운 교육환경을 구성해 참여자의 욕구에 맞춰 교육을 실행할 수 있다. 그러므로 단순 일회성의 문화 전수의 기회로만 생각하지 말고지속적인 예술교육이 이루어질 수 있도록 연구하고 환경을 제공할 필요가 있다. 결과적으로 본 연구는 예술교육이 현대인들에게 전 생애 주기에 걸쳐 문화향유의 기회를 제공하고, 자아실현을 통한 삶의 만족을 이끌어 내 예술교육이 가지는 삶의 질 향상과 같은 좋은 역할을 수행 할 수 있도록 도움을 줄 수 있을 것이다.

Abstract

This study examined the role and educational implication that the art will need to be qualified to￾day from the lifelong education viewpoint, through a medium dubbed ‘folk painting’ as the Korean traditional art. The Analytic Induction method was used that elicits a theory with continuing to pres￾ent modification and hypothesis based on interview materials, field diaries, photos and pictures that were collected through the in-depth interview and the participatory observation in subjects who con￾tinuously participated in folk painting education from 6 months to two and a half years. As a result, the key words of corresponding to a role of contemporary social arts education from the lifelong ed￾ucation perspective could be arranged as the ones such as ‘ positive learning experience, a desire to learn, internal growth, own value rise, a communication tool with others, a sense of belonging to a learning space, and the urge to develop meaning. ’ Also, the implications on a role of small private art education centers, which are growing in community, could be found. A private art education center forms the freer education environment in line with each individual, thereby being able to carry out education more suitably for the needs of art education participants. Therefore, there is a need to conduct a research so that the constant art education can be made without thinking of it as a simple one-off opportunity for cultural transfer, and to offer art education environment. Resultingly, this study will be helpful for playing a good role in improving the quality of life that the art education has, through providing an opportunity of enjoying culture throughout the life cycle to modern people and through leading the satisfaction with life through self-realization.
