학교교육과정 개혁으로서의 미국 K-12의 예술통합교육 사례 분석

본 연구는 학교교육과정 '개혁'으로서의 예술통합교육이 진행되고 있는 미국 K-12의 사례를 분석 소개함으로써 최근 국내외의 예술교육의 중요성에 대한 맥락적 이해 및 교육적 의미를 제시하고 한국교육에의 시사점을 도출하고자 했다. CAPE, A+School, AIM 등의 프로그램들은 학교 예술통합교육을 통해 예술교육이 학생의 개인적 차원의 유익을 넘어 교사, 교육과정, 학업성취 향상, 학교분위기 개선, 나아가취업능력 및 사회생활 전반에 끼친 혁신적 교육효과를 일으켰다. 이러한 사례들은 국내 예술교육에서‘교육 개혁’으로서의 예술통합교육의 보다 확장된 가치를 고취시키고 시대적, 사회적 변화와 요구에따른 국제 사회에서의 전망과 방향에 일치하는 예술교육의 실현을 위해 시사하는 바가 크다.
Abstract
This study analyzed and introduced a case of America's K-12, which is being progressed the integrated arts education as 'reform' of school education. Thus, the aim was to suggest the contextual understanding and the educational significance on importance of arts education at home and abroad in these days and was to elicit implication in school education. Programs such as CAPE, A+School, and AIM caused innovative educational effects, on which the arts education through the integrated school arts education had, such as enhancing teacher and curriculum, improving academic achievement, and further influencing the employment ability and the whole social life beyond students' benefits in individual dimension. These cases have great implication for encouraging the more expanded value in the integrated arts education as 'educational reform'in the domestic arts education and for realizing the arts education of being consistent with prospect and direction in the international society according to historical and social change and demand.
