大日經 住心品 三句의 同體的 관계에 대한 소고

대일경 주심품에 등장하는 ‘菩提心爲因大悲爲根方便爲究竟’이라는 三句에 대하여 그 배열의 의미에 주안점을 두어 본 고에서 살펴보고자 한다. 대일경은 금강정경과 함께 양부대경이라 지칭되는 밀교의 근본경전이며, 대일경의 핵심은 바로 주심품에서 설명하고 있는 삼구라고 할 수 있다. 삼구의 배열은 가장 일반적인 불교수행의 차제를 따라서 발심→수행→교화라는 순서를 통해 이루어졌다고 하겠다. 이것은 불교의 일반에서 말하는 발심,수행, 증득,성불이라는 4단계로의 구성에 대비해 보아도 크게 상이한 점은 없다. 다만 증득과 성불의 위에 해당하는 것을 방편으로 바꾸어 배열한 것이 대일경의 삼구만이 지니고 있는 독특한 구조라 할 수 있을 것이다. 대일경소에서는 이 삼구를 해석하는데, 두 가지 비유를 들고 있다. 하나는 종자근과의 비유이고, 또 하나는 진금의 비유이다. 어째서 동일한 삼구를 설명하는데, 두 가지 종류의 비유를 사용하는 것일까. 물론 그것은 행자들로 하여금 그 원리를 통철하게 하려고 두 가지 종류의 비유를 설명하는 것이다. 행자로 하여금 진실로 三句의 이치를 알게끔 하려는 것이다. 그러므로 삼구를 각각 보리심은 因, 大悲는 根, 方便은 究竟으로 나누고 있으나, 그것은 단지 교설의 설명을 위한 형식적인 갈래일 뿐이며, 그 내용의 측면에서는 種子 根 果의 설명에서 보이듯이 온전한 형태의 과실이 나타나기까지의 연속성을 가진 異名이라고 할 수 있다.
Abstract
This paper is to study on the Three Phrase(三句) in the chapter of Stage of Mind(住心品) in Vairocana Sutra mainly on the keypoint of the arrangement shown in the phrase, namely "The cause is awakened mind, the root is compassion, the expedient is the ultimate purpose(菩提心爲因․大悲爲根․方便爲究竟). The arrangement of Three Phrase was composed of by mostly general order of practice system of Buddhism, like Spiritual Awakening(發心), Practice and Edification(敎化) in order, and there is no serious differences if the phrase is compared with the four steps of practice like Awakening, Practice, Accomplishment(證得), and Attainment of Buddhahood(成佛). The unique structure shown in the Three Phrase of Vairocana Sutra is the change of item 'Expedient' with the 'Edification' or 'Accomplishment(證得)' with 'Attainment of Buddhahood(成佛)' that is among the generally known structure of three, or four steps of practice system In the Commentary of Vairocana Sutra writen by Subhakarasiha the Three Phrase is presented two metaphor, the one is by Seed and the other one is Genuine Gold. The reason that those two metaphor is suggested to explain the same Three Phrase is that the author is let the practitioner of Mantrayana Gate(眞言門) to discern the essential principal of the phrase. The Vairocana Sutra is the fundamental scriptures along with the Vajra Peak Tantra(金剛頂經) that is called 'Two Major Great Sutras(兩部大經)' of Esoteric Buddhism, and the Three Phrase is the heart of Vairocana Sutra explained in the Chapter, the Stage of Mind(住心品). the phrase "the cause is awakened mind, the root is compassion, the expedient is the ultimate purpose" is the just the formal division of doctrines to explain, because as shown by the metaphor of SeedRootFruit, the phrase is the alias of those consecutive process of practice system to achieve the fruit, the attainment of Buddhahood.
