본 연구는 결혼생활에서 만성적 우울을 호소하는 중년 여성이 내면 부모-자녀 체계 치료(Internal ‘Parent-Child’ Systems Therapy, IPCST)와 내면가족체계(Internal Family Systems, IFS)를 통해 변화의 인식 과정을 심층적으로 고찰하고자 진행한 단일사례연구이다. 내면 부모-자녀 체계 치료(IPCST)와 내면가족체계(IFS) 경험에 대해 Colaizzi법을 활용 분석하였다. 연구의 주요 결과는 다음과 같다. 참여자는 부모의 폭력으로 인한 고통스러운 감정, 부적응성, 자기 거부적 모습으로 자기비난을 강화하고 있었다. 또한 참여자는 어린 시절 미해결된 슬픔을 가진 아이, 극단적 행동으로 내면을 보호하려는 아이, 자기 내·외부 세계를 통제하려는 아이 역할이 뚜렷하고 각자의 방식으로 행동하는 ‘내면아이’들이 관찰되었다. 참여자는 내면아이들과 안전한 접촉을 하고 미해결된 핵심감정의 수용, 증상에 대한 통제력 회복, 자기표현, 대인관계 능력의 향상 등 긍정적인 변화를 보였다. 이와 같은 결과는 내면 부모-자녀 체계 치료(IPCST)와 내면가족체계(IFS)의 이해가 부모의 폭력으로 고통 받는 참여자의 변화와 성장을 위한 효과적인 개입법이 될 수 있음을 제시하였다.
Abstract
This single case study explored the treatment experiences and perceived changes of a middle-aged woman with chronic marital depression. The participant received Internal ‘Parent-Child’ Systems Therapy (IPCST) and Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy, and the therapeutic process was analyzed using Colaizzi’s phenomenological method. The participant initially presented with emotional pain, maladjustment, self-rejection, and self-blame, all associated with a history of parental violence. She also exhibited unresolved childhood grief and extreme protective behaviors, along with a need to control both internal and external environments. Through therapy, she established safe contact with her inner child and demonstrated positive changes, including acceptance of unresolved core emotions, increased self-expression, regained control over symptoms, and improved interpersonal functioning. These findings suggest that IPCST and IFS may be effective therapeutic approaches for facilitating emotional healing and psychological growth in individuals affected by parental trauma.
