Abstract
This article is seeking for the reinterpretation of 'the prohibition of Idolatry in the Old Testament' and opening to interfaith with religions. Particularly I applied to relate with Christianity and Buddhism. The prohibition of idolatry in Christianity is the biggest obstacle to dialogue with religions. In this research I make clear that it is limited only Baal religion which showed sexual indulgence and materialism provoked by idolatry, and it implies the rejection of empire. However, the Old Testament dialogued and accepted with the higher standards of thought in ancient near eastern religions. Through the history Christianity has misappropriated so much the prohibition of idolatry to all kinds of religions and cultures in the world. As a result Christianity destroyed all other religions and had an exclusive attitudes. Christianity has to learn living together with religions. And what is the real object of idolatry in today?
