본 논문은 출애굽기 19-40장의 내용과 신학에 대한 고찰을 하는 논문이다. 이를 위해 먼저 출애굽기 전체의 구조 속에서 출애굽기 19-40장이 차지하고 있는 위치를 따져보고, 이 본문이 다시 어떻게 19:1-24:11; 24:12-40:38의 두 단원으로 나뉘는지를 논구하였다. 이어서 이 논문은 이 두 단원 각각의 세세한 내용을 개관하였다. 19:11-24:11의 시내산 언약 본문은 교차대조법 구조 속에서 언약의 준비와 비준, 십계명과 언약의 책, 그리고 구조 가운데의 20:18-21로 이루어져 있다. 특히 이 단원의 핵심은 하나님과의 관계 문제임을 다루었다. 이어지는 24:12-40:38의 성막 및 황금 송아지 본문의 내용 및 신학을 살펴보았다. 성막은 하나님이 우리와 함께 하시기를 원하는 분이시지만 그 거룩성으로 인해 우리가 함부로 다가갈 수 없는 분이심을 말해주고 있다. 또한 성막 본문의 구조의 한 가운데에 위치한 황금 송아지 본문은 거룩하신 하나님과 함께 하는 것은 이스라엘이 그에 걸맞는 거룩성을 띠어야 가능한 것임을 보여주고 있다는 점을 지적하였다.
Abstract
This paper examines the content and theology of Exodus 19-40. To do so, it first considers the place of Exodus 19-40 in the overall structure of the book of Exodus and how the text is structurally divided into two sections, 19:1-24:11 and 24:12-40:38. The paper then outlines the details of these two sections. The Sinai covenant text of 19:11-24:11, which has a chiastic structure, consists of the preparation and ratification of the covenant (19:1-15; 24:1-11), the Ten Commandments and the Book of Covenant (20:1-17; 20:22-23:33), and 20:18-21 at its center. Overall, the theological core of this section is the relationship between God and his people. Next, we explore the content and theology of the Tabernacle and Golden Calf texts in 24:12-40:38. The Tabernacle text shows us that God is both the God eager to dwell with his people but is also an unapproachable God due to his holiness. Then, the Golden Calf text, which is at the center of the Tabernacle texts (24:12-31:18; 35:1-40:38), shows us that being with a holy God is possible only when Israel is holy.
