Abstract
In the computing education, computational thinking is a very important part. Computing education not only selects IT based problem solving activities including programming activities as an important factor, but also focuses on computing thinking, which is actively using computers to solve problems of information society rather than using computer tools. In this study, a modeling education program based on computing thinking for elementary school students was proposed. The proposed education program consists of three units to learn the basic principles of computing and one unit to solve the problems of the real world through computing modeling based on the three units. As a result of applying the proposed program to elementary school students, the ability to solve the problems of the information society showed the highest correlation with the ability to design an algorithm.
