Abstract

Infodemic’ is a phenomenon in which uncertain information spreads like an infectious disease, causing social anxiety and fear, and the WHO has declared it a level 1 dangerous disease like COVID-19. This study, as a preliminary study for detecting and monitoring infodemic, examined the characteristics of various online media, including social media, and categorized them according to their trustworthiness. We also examined the appearance of information by media and identified characteristics that can discriminate infodemic candidates. The case of the study was food products related to cancer treatment, and analyzed the social media included blogs, online cafes, and Twitter. News was selected as a medium trusted media, and PubMed, where research papers and experimental results of experts are published, was selected as a high trusted media. The results of the analysis showed that the appearance of each media was divided into similar and different food groups, and the actual information content was also divided according to the credibility of the media.
