초록
When a neutron beam passes through a medium, the intensity is attenuated through scattering andabsorption reactions through interaction and collision with the nuclei of the medium. The shielding effect of theborated polyethylene shield, which uses hydrogen to shield the neutron beam and contains boron to attenuate thescattering process, was compared with that of the polyethylene shield. The experimental results showed that whenshielded with a thickness of 2 and 4 cm, the shielding rate of the borated polyethylene shield was reversed to thatof the polyethylene shield, and when shielded with a thickness of 4 and 6 cm or more, the shielding effect increasedagain. It was confirmed that there is an energy range in which the material called boron, which is effective forabsorption, can perform well as a shielding material depending on the energy range of the neutron to be shielded. Therefore, if you try to shield neutrons of various energy ranges with the same material, you can consider thislimitation and solve it by designing a combination of various types of materials or by using multiple shieldingmethods of various types of shielding.

It was confirmed that there is an energy range in which the material called boron, which is effective forabsorption, can perform well as a shielding material depending on the energy range of the neutron to be shielded.
