Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the effect of the professional quality of life on depression in clinical nurses from a tertiary hospital. Methods: A descriptive study design was used. The participants were 139 nurses who worked at a tertiary hospital in C city. The collected data were analyzed using t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient, and multiple regressions analysis with SPSS 26.0 program. Results: Depression was positively correlated with compassion fatigue (r=.28, p<.001) and burnout (r=.49, p<.001), whereas compassion satisfaction was negatively associated with depression (r=-.29, p<.001). The factor influencing depression was burnout (β=.36, p=.002), which explained 24.2% of the variance in depression. Conclusion: It is necessary to develop a program that can effectively manage burnout to reduce depression in clinical nurses.
