동아시아 淸言小品의 전파와 향유

晩明에는 淸言이 본격적으로 창작되었고, 그중 대표작들이 朝鮮과 日本에 전파되어 讀書界에 淸言文學이란 장르가 형성되었다. 이 논문에서는 만명 시기에 간행된 5종의 대표적 淸言集을 중심으로 조선과 일본에 시차를 두고 간행된 과정과 양상을 구체적으로 살펴보았다. 조선에서는 3종이, 일본에서는 2종이 간행되었는데 각국의 문단과 정치사회적 상황, 문학의식에 따라 차별화된 양상을 보였음을 밝혔다. 간행된 청언집은 각국의 청언문학이 확산되는데 주도적인 영향을 끼쳤고, 간행된 청언집은 다시 중국을 비롯한 다른 나라에 영향을 준 역사적 사실을 확인하였다. 동아시아 전체를 대상으로 한 청언집 간행의 과정과 양상은 이 논문에서 처음 연구되는 의의가 있다. 연구의 결과, 淸言小品의 書籍流通과 享有樣相을 이해하는데 도움을 줄 수 있고, 그에 대한 比較文學的 分析이나 각 청언집의 板本과 價値, 그 文學性과 社會史를 파악하는 데에도 적지 않게 기여할 수 있을 것이다.
Abstract
Cheongeon (淸言, “serene words”), or essay-style writings appeared in earnest starting from the late Ming dynasty. Leading works of cheongeon from this period were introduced to Joseon and Japan, which led to the rise of cheongeon literature and its readership. The purpose of this paper is to examine in detail five particular works of cheongeonjip (“collection of serene words”) from the late Ming dynasty, in terms of the process and phenomena of their publication, with time difference, in Joseon and Japan. Of these five works, three were published in Joseon and two in Japan. This paper examines the different aspects of the phenomena of cheongeon literature in the two countries rising from their differences in terms of the circumstances of the literary world, socio-political conditions in general, and literary consciousness. The publication of the cheongeonjip had a major impact on the spread of cheongeon literature in the two countries, which in turn had influence in China and other countries. The significance of this paper is found in that it is the first attempt at examining the cheongeonjip publication process and the cheongeon literary phenomena in East Asia at large. It is expected that this work will contribute greatly to better understanding the circulation and appreciation of cheongeon sopum; it is further expected that the paper will also make significant contribution to the analysis of the works from a comparative literary perspective, and to the identification of the editions and value of the various cheongeonjip and the literary quality and social history associated with them.
