본고는 조선조 중기의 官僚이며 學者인 眉巖 柳希春이 편찬한 ꡔ新增類合ꡕ의 版本에 관한 연구이다. 眉巖은 兒童敎育을 위한 서적도 편찬한 바, 하나는 心性敎育과 儒學敎育을 위한 ꡔ續蒙求ꡕ이고, 하나는 文解敎育用의 ꡔ新增類合ꡕ이다. 眉巖은 두 서적을 편찬하면서 初版이 간행된 이후에도 계속적으로 修正을 가해 인출하게 하였다. 따라서 이 두 서적은 판본마다 부분적으로 상이한 내용이 있거나 문자상의 차이가 있어 전래본 가운데 同一本은 없다고 해도 과언이 아니다. ꡔ新增類合ꡕ은 ꡔ類合ꡕ을 증보하여 실생활에 사용되는 글자 가운데 요긴한 글자를 보다 많이 수록하고, 불교를 배척하고 유학을 선양하는 내용을 수록하는 것이 목적이었다. ꡔ新增類合ꡕ은 선조 7년(1574) 海州 初版이 간행된 후, 선조 9년(1576) 海州에서 改訂版이 간행되었고, 선조 10년(1577) 校書館에서 三刊本을 간행한 것으로 보인다. 전래본은 校書館에서 간행을 주관한 木活字本의 一蓑本과 羅孫本, 임진왜란 전후 간본으로 尊經閣本, 岩崎本, 또다른 개인 수장의 목판본과 전라도에서 목판으로 간행된 것으로 추정되는 誠庵本과 東洋文庫本이 있다. 이외에도 선조 38년(1605)에 간행된 李壽崙 家刻本과 17세기 간본의 高麗大學校本이 있다. 書誌的인 特徵과 글자의 字釋과 發音을 통해 이들 간본의 인출순서는 一蓑本, 羅孫本, 誠庵本, 東洋文庫本, 李壽崙本, 高麗大本으로 볼 수 있다. 이들 서적은 조선 중기의 국어의 변천과 方言을 살펴볼 수 있어 귀중한 자료가 된다.
Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to compare the editions of Sinjeung Yuhap(ꡔ新增類合ꡕ) by Yu, Heui-chun(柳希春), a government official and scholar in the middle of Chosun dynasty. He wrote two books for children. One is Sinjeung Yuhap for teaching characters, the other is Sog Mong-gu(ꡔ續蒙求ꡕ) for moral and confucian education. After publishing its first edition, he kept revising to have it reprinted. Consequently hardly any single copy is from the same reprint, with different content and characters to each other. He compiled this book to complement Yuhap(ꡔ類合ꡕ) and add frequently used characters, to reject Budhist theories and promote Confucianism. The 1st edition of Sinjeung Yuhap was published at Haeju(海州) in 1574, 2nd edition at Haeju in 1576, and 3rd edition in 1577 under the auspices of Kyosogwan(校書館). The 1st edition and its revised edition are extant now, while edition printed in 1577 and the reproductions exist. By looking into the bibliographical features, the meanings and pronunciations, we can establish the order of the publications. The existent books are from 9 editions. The earliest edition is Ilsa(一蓑) one, and the final one is the edition kept by Korea University Library(高大本). These editions are regarded as an important material in the study of the transition of Korean language and dialect.
